zig zag wandering
Hmmm, sorry my dear blog, for ignoring you for months... I've been zig zag wandering around Europe and soaking in rain and sun in varying amounts, and not really thinking about clothes, or fashion, or even less blogging.
Two weeks ago though I did get the honour of helping prepare the Stine Goya fashion show for Copenhagen's Fashion Week. She has been one of my tip top favourite designers on the planet, and I can admit I almost fainted on the way to her studio on my first day. I can however report that she is one of the nicest, and most down to earth, amazing favourite designers of mine in the world. During the week, we made some of the Michael Jackson tribute gloves, bought and painted shoes (her own range wasn't back from the factory in time for the show), spray-painted tights (which unfortunately turned out pretty terrible) and beaded the swimming costumes that the synchronised swimmers wore in the intro bit.

she sells seashells on the seashore
i-D's 300th anniversary issue reached my personal top 5 list of magazines of the year, for their albeit brief (and delayed!) review of Barcelona's 080 fashion week and the Miami editorial by Magnus Unnar, styled by Sarah Richardson. I hadn't paid as much attention to any S/S 09 shows to the extent of studying the jewellery and whatnot, but I love the Stella McCartney sea-shell pieces that were used in these pictures. There is no way I would pay anything more than 5 euro on any piece of jewellery, despite it being the year of the 'it necklace' and all, but this is definitely a refreshing and inspiring take on the seashells as jewelry thing that might be a good DIY starting point. Maybe good old Fimo could be the answer?

sex on legs
I love the trashy 80s-ness, energy and tongue-in-cheek vibe of this editorial in the June/July Vogue Paris, photographed of course by Terry Richardson. Who else would have been able to pull this off?

The printing of... a fake swimsuit catalogue
The day has come... when all my pocket-money shall be spent on ink and paper to print my final project...
This whole experience has just confirmed that I am definitely not a graphic designer. Anyway, here they are, the final selection, scanned-in, retouched, medium format goodies in all their glory!

serious delirium!
Apologies for being a lazy blogger... well, the truth is I've been cerrado in my bedroom, photoshopping, powerpointing, indesigning and cropping all weekend. 4 days til my masters is finito! Aaahhh.
Fun news though! My tutor Clara has asked me to model for her accessories and jewellery brand D-Lirio! When we sat down to look at her ideas for hair and make-up on her laptop, I discovered a whole file of unattractive, drunken pictures of me that she had taken off facebook, to see what my hair was like, etc! So kids, watch what you put on facebook (if you didn't already know...)
But anyway, back to the topic! I get to pick a bag for myself from the new catalogue! But I can't decide... they are all like little candies... I need a pick and mix, not just one!

Matthew Williamson... for men
Exciting news! I'm styling an advert for Estrella Levante beer next week! Mmm... sexy beer.
Anyway, while I was trawling through the mens' departments looking for some potential clothes, I came across the Matthew Williamson for H&M range... which is no news... but! I actually like the men's range a lot more than the 'main' women's range. There is a really interesting Henrik Vibskov-like kaleidoscope print that he has used in a t-shirt, as well as piping in the blazer and panels in a sweatshirt. Also, fluoro-colour jeans and shorts with studs along the waistband. And an amazing studded motorcycle leather jacket. Much, much cooler than the blingy, pseudo-hippy, women's range.

the camera worked!
I am beginning to think last week's shoot for my final project was blessed by the heavens. So not only did we have perfect weather, the perfect model who was perfect and fitted the clothes perfectly, and the perfect hair and the perfect make-up and we finished early cos everything was so perfect... but the medium format pictures on the Yashica D camera actually worked, and came out pretty perfectly! Here is a preview of one of the unretouched negatives.

Ida Sjöstedt S/S 09 catalogue
I came across this catalogue of Ida Sjöstedt's S/S09 collection at Snö and instantly fell in love with the girly, playful and innocent DIY aesthetic that the catalogue creates with its mix of mixed-material collages, drawings and dreamy low-fi photographs. I especially love the pink leopard print page... (and how its juxtaposed with the virginal white page across it.)

The making of... a fake swimsuit catalogue
I'm super pleased with the results... good team, amazing and co-operative model (Carla from Models On), perfect weather in the end (had a sleepless night worrying about clouds), nothing stolen, and no hassle from passers-by... We shot using medium format film on our grandfather's old camera, which might work and be absolutely amazing, or it might also not work whatsoever... We will find out on Tuesday!

On the search for Eggleston and Bourdin in BCN
This is some of the yield of today's hunt for spots in Barcelona that I can use to replicate some of the atmosphere of photographs of Guy Bourdin and William Eggleston that I am using as inspiration. I especially love the "Smarty" car-wash in Llacuna! It has the exact tone of sun-bleached, chipped paint red I am after. Also, the Forum will be great for some of the more architectural, stark and slightly surreal shots that Guy Bourdin would have approved!
I also came home with an extremely fashionable t-shirt burn... white shoulders and red arms... ahhhh! Wont need a t-shirt tomorrow, as I already look like I'm wearing one!
